Overview

The Bristol Township Police Department, established in 1948, is an essential part of the Township of Bristol. Our officers pride themselves in the professional performance of their duties. We diligently work not only for, but with the residents of our township to provide a safe and pleasant environment in which to live and work.

Bristol Township is located about twenty miles north of downtown Philadelphia. our area of patrol is seventeen square miles in size. We have a very diverse population of approximately 54, 586 people.

Eligibility Requirements

• The applicant must be at least 21 years of age at the time of test.
• The applicant must be a United States citizen.
• The applicant must have  high school diploma or a G.E.D.
• The applicant must possess a valid driver's license prior to appointment.
• The applicant must be able to pass a job-related physical and psychological exam.
• The applicant must establish residency within 15 miles of Bristol Township Police Headquarters within eighteen months of hire.

Selection Process

• A properly completed application for employment, along with the required application fee will be returned to Bristol Township Headquarters by the date listed on the employment announcement.
• Applications will be initially screened to ensure that the applicants meet the minimum requirements as stated in the employment announcement.
• Candidates will be required to perform a variety of physical exercises as outlined in the application packet in accordance with state standards.
• Candidates will be given a written examination in order to screen and obtain the best possible candidates for the position.
• A comprehensive background investigation will be conducted on all applicants who have successfully completed the prior stages.
• All candidates will be required to submit to a comprehensive medical examination. This will include a screening for illegal drug use.
• All candidates will be required to submit to a comprehensive psychological examination.
• All candidates will be required to fill out a personal data questionnaire and undergo a polygraph examination.
